Last Sunday the lady of the house was doing laundry and cleaning bathrooms when she noticed that a toilet wasn't flushing properly. On her way to get a plunger for the toilet, she walked past her pantry door and noticed water on the hardwood floor. Thinking she must have spilt some water while cleaning, she threw a towel down to soak up the water.
A few minutes later, as she passed the pantry door a second time, the water puddle was back and larger than before. When she opened the pantry door, she was greeted by a lot of water gushing up from a floor drain. She immediately called Dragon Restoration.
We arrived in 20 minutes, but it was too late. Category 3, black water had affected several areas of her home.
We told them that having $5000.00 was almost the same as not having any because we knew from experience that $5000.00 wasn't enough. We told them to ask their agent about even more coverage than the basic $5000.00. They did and found out that an additional $20,000.00 worth of coverage would cost only $20.00 more a year. So for an extra $117.00 per year, they added $25,000 worth of insurance on a rider for backup of sewer and drain.
The total cost to clean up and repair the damage the backup caused to their home came to $17,700.00. Where would they be if they had bought only the standard insurance policy with no coverage for backup of sewer and drain? Where would they be if they had stopped with only the basic $5000.00 rider? They couldn't thank us and their friend who told them about our company enough.
For us, we are glad that they asked our opinion those three years ago. It's nice to have been able to help. We can help you too, whether remediating a water loss, or just offering advice about coverage limits.
