You will approach a crossroad along your journey and need to make a decision. Your first step may not seem momentous at that time, but it creates a new beginning from which you will never completely return. No matter how complex the decision seems to be, common sense and simplicity will lead you on your own unique path toward fulfillment. But which crossroad is “The Big One”? You know, the decision that will change your life forever into the life you dream of having.
“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” - Leonardo da Vinci
“I have just three things to teach: simplicity, goodness and truth.” - Lao Tzu
“Simplicity is about subtracting the obvious and adding the meaningful.” - John Maeda
Ways To Keep Things Simple
Remove everything not related to the decision or task at hand. Consider Google as a perfect example; a bare page with only a search box. Concise, uncluttered… simple.
If you can no longer reduce or eliminate things, organize what remains. Create relevant groups.
#3: Manage Time
Saving time feels like simplicity. It is said: “Time is of the essence” and “Time is money.” The more time you save, the more time and money you have left for other pursuits.
#4: Never Stop Learning
Knowledge makes everything easier and less confusing, thus simpler. The more you learn about something or the more you repeat something, the faster and easier the process becomes. Easier equates to simple.
Simplicity and Complexity need each other. They are opposites, but without being able to recognize complex, we wouldn’t recognize simple. Today’s iPads and iPhones are complex, yet simple. (for some of us anyway!)
#6: Develop Trust
We would all be better off with more trust in our lives. We can and do trust things that are simple.
