2. Shut off supply lines to toilets and sinks that are not currently in use. Replace all standard supply lines with braided lines.
3. If there is a basement, check to see that the sump pump is working properly. Dump a 5-gallon bucket of water in the crock, the pump should engage and quickly pump out the water.
4. Make sure the furnace and thermostat are working properly.
5. Call your local utility providers and put the electric and/or gas services in your name.
